My latest series, Portraits of Ying, of copper wire sculptures in fused glass, unpacks life at the nexus of hope and frustration and the wish to walk free without walls. These portraits, created via screenshots, document a single relationship forged in the tension between freedom and constraints. Unlike other series of sculptures I have made in the past, Portraits of Ying draws on a single muse encountered on the internet, its premise arising from the growing experience of being a global citizen that has come with the rise of internet mediated relations
